Cherry Chippendale Side Chair
Probably Connecticut, 1780-1800
A fine country Chippendale side chair with a pierced and carved splat. The cupid's bow crest has a central shell and carved ears. The pierced splat has a carved tassel and an odd turtle-like form above it. The slip seat appears to be of the period. Unusual design and made from very heavy cherry stock. Older refinish
